Academy Amistad is located in the beautiful city of Quito, Ecuador in a relaxing neighborhood between the historical and modern town allowing students to enjoy the best parts of what the city has to offer. We are a small, hospitable academy with a family atmosphere.
Once you have the opportunity to study Spanish at Academy Amistad you will be able to understand and communicate with native speakers. Whether for business or pleasure your knowledge of the Spanish language will improve significantly. Our mission is to help our students travel and explore in Spanish speaking countries.
We offer individual one-on-one classes and the lessons are based on an efficient program including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, conversation, lecture and didactic games.
Our teachers are very experienced in teaching travelers and have great knowledge about adult learning adjusting their instruction style to your specific needs and goals.

About Ecuador

Quito is the capital of Ecuador. Located in the northern part of the country at an altitude of 2,850m and hosting 2,671,191 residents this ancient city is the perfect starting point for any South American adventure. The historic city center still shines with lustrous white colonial buildings, churches and vibrant squares. In the modern city all of the amenities of modern life abound. In a single day a visitor can be whisked back in time to enjoy the traditional Andean cuisine and then relax in the luxurious modern theaters or stroll through halls of contemporary art. On sunny days one can spot the volcanic peaks of Cotopaxi or Cayambe, and on rainy days you'll enjoy the hearty soups common in these highlands. There is always a mild climate and something unusual to taste. Explore our markets filled with the art, crafts and textiles of the indigenous people from Otavalo. Our Services
Spanish Lessons
Choose the number of lessons that's right for you. We recommend a standard course of 20 - 25 hours per week. The lessons are tailored to your needs and skill level.
After school programs
In the afternoons we visit museums, tourist sites, historic downtown and then we go to the markets and pick up ingredients for an incredible Ecuadorian meal. Dance, play and have fun engaging with us in the evening. We do these activities with explanations from a teacher or guide and in the context of understanding South America.
Weekend Activities
Some weekends the academy could organize optional activities like hikes to the mountains or visits to villages and sites nearby. In this case the expenses depend on the duration and the costs.
Online Lessons
For students that want to learn Spanish either for their careers, for travelling, or as a hobby Academy Amistad also offers Spanish classes online via Skype with Ecuadorian teachers.
Students can take advantage of this new alternative by having a personal, native Spanish speaking tutor available to you where you live. Our online programs are personalized and focused according to the needs and the language level of each student.
ACCOMMODATION
We offer the possibility to live with an Ecuadorian family including a comfortable bedroom, two meals (breakfast and dinner), warm water, and of course useful practice of your Spanish.
Alternatively we’re able to recommend some hotels, inns and other tourist accommodations in the area around our academy.
COOKING CLASSES and MARKET TOUR
Learn to cook traditional Ecuadorian food during this 4-hour class in Quito. Shop at a local open-air market with your instructor who will guide you in selecting ingredients for the dishes. In a local family's kitchen try your hand at making dishes such as empanadas, llapingachos, arroz con pollo and others before feasting on your work!
Other Offers
Hiking in South America 101 - We provide instructions for day hikes and overnight backpacking. We'll teach you the beginner skills you need to plan your trip, pack appropriately, navigate the trail, hike with kids, set up your campsite, etc.
Airport Transportation - we can pick you up at the Quito Airport and go with you to your host family or to your hotel for an extra fee. For this service we need your flight number, date and time of your arrival.

$9.50 an hour between 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday for an in person one-on-one lesson.
Online Learning $8
Choose the hour and days to learn starting from 8 AM to 8:00 PM EST (Monday- Saturday).
Three days a week program $50
Six hours of Spanish lessons per week, choose the best days for you to learn during normal business hours.
Five Days a Week PRogram $160
Twenty hours of Spanish lessons per week during normal business hours for as many weeks as you wish.
